Engineering & process capability

The workshop is only half the answer. What decides whether a part can be made the way you drew it is what happens to the drawing before it reaches a machine.

CAD / CAE / CAM

The drawing is turned into a manufacturable model before a machine is touched.

Solid models are built from the customer drawing, tool paths are generated and reviewed for reach, clamping and finish, and the NC programs are written from the same model. Where a feature cannot be reached as drawn, we find out at this stage rather than at final inspection.

  • 3D models rebuilt from the customer 2D drawing
  • Tool reach, fixturing and cycle time reviewed before production
  • CAM programming in-house, so the program and the model stay in step

PDM / ERP / OA

One route from the enquiry to the delivery note, tracked against real capacity.

Product data, orders and workshop instructions live in one system, so the status of a job is the status of the job — not a version of it in someone's inbox. Capacity is read from the actual machine list, which is why the dates we give tend to hold.

  • Drawing revisions under version control with the order
  • Shop instructions issued per job, not per department
  • Order status read from live production data

Forming simulation

Die and mould behaviour predicted before the tool is cut.

For stamping, forging and moulding, the forming process is simulated before the tool is committed. That catches the things that are expensive to discover on a production batch — wrinkling, thinning, cracking, uneven fill and excessive tooling wear — while the tool is still only a design.

  • Wrinkling and thinning predicted before the die is cut
  • Filling and venting checked for moulded parts
  • Tool life and wear estimated for the planned batch size
  • A more accurate price and a more honest lead time

What that means when you send us a drawing

Four things happen between your enquiry and the price, and all four are free. If any of them turns up something, we tell you before you have committed to anything.

  • Drawing review before quotationEvery drawing is read against the process you asked for. Missing tolerances, ambiguous datums and features that cannot be reached are flagged before a price is agreed — not after.
  • Material and sourcingMaterial is bought against the specification you give, with mill test certificates available on request. We do not substitute a grade to make the price work.
  • Tooling in-house and under our controlDies, patterns and moulds are built and maintained here, so a tooling problem is a conversation rather than a letter to a third party with a six-week queue.
  • Prototype to production on one routeThe first article is produced on the production route, not a special one. A part that passed approval is therefore the part that repeats.

Put a drawing in front of us

The review is free and it is where most of the value is. Send the drawing, or the sample, or just a description of what the part has to do.

Request a quote

Send a drawing and we will quote it against your material, tolerance and quantity. A description of what the part has to do is enough to start.

We reply within one business day. Your details are used to answer this enquiry and nothing else.
