What it is and why it is made that way
Caps and grommets are small parts that get specified late and shipped early — which is exactly the kind of part that ends up made badly. We mould them with the wall thickness and fit controlled, so a protective cap actually stays on and a grommet actually grips the cable it is fitted to.
