About this part

What it is and why it is made that way

A spring seat does two jobs: it keeps the spring in place and it takes the spring force. Forging it means the part that carries the load is dense and well-defined, which matters when the spring is working hard. The seat is machined to suit the spring wire diameter and the free height of the spring you are using.

  • Seat diameter matched to the spring wire and free height
  • Forged load path, then machined to the spring geometry
  • Retainer styles supplied with or without circlip grooves
  • Batch-matched sets available

Materials

  • C45 / 40Cr carbon steel
  • 42CrMo alloy steel
  • 20CrMnTi / 20CrMnMo gear steel

  • Open-die forging
  • Closed-die forging
  • Hot and cold forging
  • Heat treatment
  • CNC finish machining
