About this part
What it is and why it is made that way
Adapters and unions are the fittings that join two different systems together, which makes their sealing face the part that has to be right. We machine the sealing face flat and square to the thread, cut the thread to the specified standard, and clean the sealing surface so it will actually seal when the customer fits it.
