About this part
What it is and why it is made that way
Rings, pins and bushings are small parts that carry a tight tolerance, and they are usually machined in one setup so that the groove, the shoulder and the bore stay in relationship. A retaining ring that has not been machined as part of the same setup is the classic source of a runout fault, so we machine the whole feature set together.
