About this part

What it is and why it is made that way

A hub has to hold a shaft and, if it rotates, hold its balance. The casting forms the body and its spokes in one piece, the bore is machined to the shaft fit, and rotating parts are balanced after machining. This is a common replacement for a machined-from-solid hub when the shape is complicated.

  • Bore machined to the specified shaft fit
  • Rotating parts dynamically balanced after machining
  • Spoked, flanged and solid forms produced in one casting
  • Stainless, alloy steel and bronze grades

Materials

  • Stainless 304 / 316L
  • Carbon steel 1045 / 4140
  • Alloy steel 17-4PH
  • Bronze and brass (CuSn10, CuZn37)
  • Aluminium A356

Production processes

  • Investment casting (lost wax)
  • Lost-wax casting
  • Shell moulding
  • Deburring and shot blasting
  • CNC finish machining
